Studio Rental at Welch Street Studios
Studios are intended to be used as a working space for local artists and to interact with other artists in an active art community.
Our new art studios are ideal for professional, intermediate and beginner artists who work regularly in their studio. We offer different studio sizes to match artists needs and the studios are located inside a shared warehouse space on the main floor. Our facilities are intended for artists who are working in 2D and 3D mediums such as acrylic, watercolour and oil painting as well as other art mediums, such as mixed-media, jewelry, photography, sculpture, art prints, drawing, illustration, art-ware and other art expressions.
Our new studios feature bright overhead lights, locking doors and some with overhead 9-foot storage shelves. Many studios will share an 18-foot ceiling in the “warehouse space”. The studios share a wash-up sink, a kitchen with lunch space, two washrooms, air conditioning/heat and overhead fan. The building is well maintained and has a secure night time outdoor lighting, electronic alarms, electronic fob key entry and free outside parking.
We encourage artists to be respectful and avoid noises to disturb the other artists. This includes loud talking, high volume music and any form of continued hammering or machine noise.
Teaching art in a studio is generally permitted but it is suggested that one student at a time is preferred so not to disturb others. A workshop rental space is available. A registered District of North Vancouver business licence is also required if selling from the studio.
The studio lease requires a one-year commitment delivering 12 post-dated cheques with a one-month damage deposit. After the one year lease, artists can stay on monthly or leave with one month's notice.
Studios are intended for working artists making original art.
Some rules apply; We ask all tenants to agree to the use of no heavy manufacturing or production line work, no excessive noise, no hammering, no excessive fumes or using highly flammable products. Studios are not intended to be used as a sales boutiques only or a business office space. We do not offer short term rentals or sharing rented space to un-registered artists.
